Ocean Springs

Sallie Hallam Tomaszewski, 73, of Ocean Springs, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Cleveland, Mississippi, on February 20, 1952, Sallie was the daughter of Lt. Colonel Louis Carlyle Hallam and Delia Rae Hallam. She graduated from Cleveland High School and went on to earn both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Delta State University.

Sallie dedicated 25 years to teaching in the Ocean Springs School District, where she touched countless lives with her care, patience, and love for her students. After retiring from teaching, she served as manager of the Isle One Club at the Isle of Capri Casino & Resort. She was also a devoted coach’s wife, faithfully supporting Steve throughout his career and becoming a beloved fixture in the Ocean Springs baseball community.

Above all, Sallie was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She treasured time with her family and friends and found her greatest joy in cheering on her grandsons at their baseball games. Her warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family will forever be cherished.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lt. Colonel Louis Carlyle and Delia Rae Hallam; her sister, Louise Hallam Wesslund; and her brother-in-law, Percy Henry Kaigler II.

Sallie is survived by her husband of 51 years, Steve; daughter, Rae; son, Steven (Lauranne); her grandsons, Vance and Thad; her sister, Delia Kaigler; nephews, Hal Kaigler (Natalie), Streett Kaigler (Brittny), and Tyler Wesslund; and her great-nieces and nephews, Lucy, Avery, Lyndon, and Hudson.

Sallie’s unwavering love for her family, especially the joy she found in her grandsons—remains a light that will continue to guide them and all who were blessed by her presence.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
