Scotty Barfield

Scotty Barfield, age 64, of Gulfport, died Sunday, April 24, 2016 in Gulfport. Scotty was born and raised in Tallassee, AL, and graduated Tallassee High School in 1968. She attended Riley Business College in Dothan, AL. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served in the nursery. Scotty was employed by Dr. Harry Danielson for fourteen years as a pre-cert specialist, and the past 12 years by Memorial Hospital Gulfport. She took pride in battling with insurance companies to pay for a patient’s procedure or surgery. After a turndown, she turned up the heat and was considered one of the best in the business. Scotty was a good friend to those she worked with and was a good listener; she was sincerely loved by everyone that knew her for her large kind heart. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for her kids. Family time was precious. Scotty loved her mini-vacations to classic car shows, and she loved her Yorkshire Terriers named Max, Lil Buddy and Maxie, and her cat named Bonkers. Scotty had a lifetime love of the Alabama Crimson Tide. From one of her last shared posts…”Sometimes the best thing you do is not think, not wonder, not imagine, not obsess. Just breathe…and have faith that everything will work out for the best.” There is an incredible hole left in this world that can never be filled. She was preceded in death by her parents Owens Lawton and Margaret Cole Graham; and her daughter, Jennifer SusAnn Taunton. She is survived by her husband, Terry Warren Barfield; a son, Jason S. Taunton (Michelle); a brother, Nicky Owens Graham; six grandchildren, Kristian Sears (DJ), Cody Taunton, Kaley Taunton, Christian Ashford, Camryn Taunton, Chase Taunton, and two great-grandchildren, Zayne Sears and Blake Sears. The funeral service is Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Gulfport where friends may visit beginning at 12:00 p.m. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
