Shelby Jean Hines "Jean", age 89, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 28, 2025. She passed peacefully in her home.
Jean was born on November 25, 1936, in Leake County, Mississippi. She was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. She attended Thomastown High School where she was an avid basketball player. She was an awesome wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Shelby and Inez McMillon; her husband, James A. "Bud" Hines; son, James E. "Jimmy" Hines; sister, Janelle Williams; and brother, Doyle McMillon.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Tommy Leonard; Her grandchildren, Kristina Leonard, Timothy and Laura Leonard, Eric Hines; great grandchildren, Kaleb and MaKaylee Brune, Ansley, Avery and Wyatt Leonard with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Special thanks to Jackson County Sheriff Deputies, Jackson County Firefighters and Acadian Ambulance personnel for their comfort and compassion during this time. Also, to the staff of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Homes.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at D'Iberville Memorial Park.
