Sherry Migues Hankins passed away Monday, October 6, 2025.
Sherry, the ninth child of Alton “Black” and Martha (Bourgeois) Migues, was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, in the Point Cadet area. She grew up surrounded by family and love, beginning a new chapter of her life at a young age.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose life centered around her family. Sherry had four children and a bonus daughter: Robert (JJ) Hankins Jr., Joshua (Mary) Hankins, Melissa (Randy) Farugao, Melinda (Dan) Blethen, and Kelly (Don) Deerkowski. Sherry was blessed with many grandchildren who were the light of her life, Mackenzie and Abbey Hankins, Cassandra, Rebecca, and Joshua Hankins Jr., Madelyn Johnson, McKenna Grace, Myles Farugao, Riley and Peyton Blethen. She also leaves behind one great-grandson, Hudson Deerkowski, who brought her endless joy. Sherry is also survived by her four sisters, Geneva Carroll, Louethel Montgomery, Dale Burgin, and Pamela Robinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton “Black” and Martha (Bourgeois) Migues; four brothers, Rudy, Arnold, Alton Jr., and Warren Migues; one sister, Lois (Migues) Higginbotham; and her beloved aunt, Maudreet (Saunders) Migues.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at St. Michaels Catholic Church. Friends are invited to visit one hour prior. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery.
She will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and the boundless love she shared with everyone she met. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her laughter and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
