It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Mae Ryan, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Shirley peacefully passed away on October 8, 2024, in Peachtree Corners, GA, at the age of 83.


Born on November 8, 1940, in Biloxi, MS, Shirley remained a lifelong resident of her hometown, which held a special place in her heart. Known for her kindness, warmth, and devotion to family, Shirley took great joy in taking care of her loved ones. She spent her time reading, gardening, traveling, and listening to music—activities that filled her life with happiness and peace.


Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, MSgt. John Patrick Ryan, with whom she shared 47 wonderful years of marriage; her parents, James and Eunice Harris Hankins; and her sisters, Earline Salewski and Geraldine Johnson.


She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory forever, her son, Richard Ryan, and his wife, Tara Ryan; and her two grandchildren, Colin Ryan and Caitie Ryan, who brought her immense joy and pride.


Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 12:30 PM, at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS. Family and friends are invited to gather before the service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home - Howard Avenue Chapel, for a time of reflection and remembrance.


Shirley touched the lives of so many with her compassion, love, and unwavering dedication to family. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
