Sue McCallar Moak, age 75, of Ocean Springs, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015. She was born on May 2, 1939 in Savannah, Georgia.
In 1959, Sue married the love of her life Billy M. Moak. They enjoyed living in many places in their early years of marriage but decided to call Ocean Springs home for their family.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, she was active in many organizations and clubs. Sue was a member of the Friendship Club, the Red Hats, and Beta Sigma Phi. She also loved to participate in volunteering for the Make a Wish Foundation, St. Jude’s, and many others and was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was proud to have worked as a secretary for the FBI and for the Ocean Springs Middle School. Filled with compassion and interest in others, Sue made friends easily and will be missed by many but never forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her mother Lucille McCallar, her sister Nan Schwabe, her brothers-in-law Herb Schwabe and Herb Haymans, and her niece Traci Haymans.
Survivors include her husband, Billy M. Moak; and her daughters, Kelly Hutto and her husband, Hugh Hutto; Karla Vasquez, Krista Gallaspy and her husband Josh Gallaspy; three grandchildren, Jarred Hutto and his wife, Alyssa Hutto, Ryan Hutto and Joe Gallaspy and one great-grandchild, Brockson Hutto.
On Friday, January 9, there will be a 2 pm graveside service in Crestlawn Memorial Park. On Saturday, January 10, a 3 pm Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. Paul UMC Downtown.
The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
