Suell Ross Grimm III— beloved husband, father, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend—was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on April 10, 2026. He passed away surrounded by his cherished family, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith.
Born August 10, 1948, in Seattle, Washington, Ross had a deep love for fishing, much like the disciples he admired. He often found solace on the James River in Yorktown, Virginia, or in the tranquil waters of Biloxi, Back Bay, where he was determined to bring home his catch. As a young boy, he would catch blue crabs, using a chicken neck tied to a piece of twine, gently pulling them to the surface before scooping them into his net.
Later in life, he became more focused on speckled trout, and there was no better place than the Mississippi Sound with Randall as his first mate.
Grill master Ross enjoyed showcasing his culinary talents as well. In his early days as a father, he delighted his children with perfectly cooked burgers; but as their palates matured, they developed a taste for more refined dishes, like Boston butt, tenderloin, or surf and turf. After a rewarding day of fishing, he took pleasure in frying the speckled trout he had caught. He was also skilled at shucking oysters, doing so with the finesse of a seasoned pro.
Ross was a devoted member and deacon of First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs, where he was known for his unwavering faith, service to others, and boundless kindness. He was faithfully prepared with an umbrella on rainy Sundays to assist mothers and children. He also served on the facilities team, helping maintain and repair the church grounds with care and dedication.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Randall Grimm; and four children, Randall Grimm, Erin Grimm Pitzer, Laura Perry, and Courtney Hatchett; and eight grandchildren, Tatum Grace, Swayze Kate, Laurie, Slade, Anna Grace, Dean, Caleb, and Hudson. Tatum Grace and Swayze Kate lovingly referred to him as “Tataw,” an endearing title passed down from their great-grandfather’s grandchildren. His other grandchildren affectionately called him “Pappy,” a name inspired by his own father, who served in the Coast Guard and was often away at sea.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Dr. Brian Persing and Melinda (Mindy) Bustamante, R.N. for their compassionate care and support throughout Ross’s illness.
We are forever grateful for the love, strength, and faithful prayers of Ross’s sister Jacquelyne Grimm Pittman. Her steady presence carried us through the difficult days.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs. Friends are invited to visit from 9:30 am till service time. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs.
Ross’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, a testament to a life well-lived in love and faith.
