Susan Tillinghast Garlotte

Susan Tillinghast Garlotte, age 74, of Ocean Springs passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at her home.

She was born on October 4, 1947 in Biloxi, MS. She was a graduate of Pascagoula High School. She served as a caregiver for Home Instead in Ocean Springs before she retired from Ocean Springs School District after twelve and a half years as a Bus’s Aid for the Special Needs Children that all held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed spending time with her family and making fun memories with her soulmate, Gerald VanCourt. She also enjoyed raking, spending time outside listening to her music, keeping up with her social media, and her therapeutic cooking. She was a proud member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where she enjoyed volunteering. She honorably retired with more than thirty-six years of civil service from Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, John Tillinghast and Mary Brumbaugh Tillinghast; sister, Alice Tillinghast Smith; and brother, Steve Tillinghast.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Garlotte McElroy; grandchildren, Tiffany Davis, Julie Johnson, Stephanie McElroy and Daniel VanCourt; great granddaughters, Taelynn Delancey and Mickenzi McGill; siblings, Stanley Tillinghast and JoAnn Tillinghast Thompson; and grand fur baby, Pixie.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Family and friends will visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Ocean Springs, MS.
