Sylvia Delores Rochuba, 85, a lifelong resident of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Saturday, July 6,2024 in Ocean Springs.
Sylvia was born on March 17, 1939 in Nashville, TN to Ethel and James Trotter. She was a very avid seamstress and an artist and she had a “green thumb”. Sylvia was a nurse for 35+ years. She loved nursing, working in the hospitals and with all of the different doctors. Sylvia and her late husband, both worked with the VFW, Shriners, Toys for Tots, OSPD, OSFD, American Legion and Mardi Gras. They also ran an ice cream truck for under privileged children. Their favorite restaurant of choice was McElroy’s in Ocean Springs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Rochuba; and her parents.
Sylvia’s survivors include her children, Michael F. Chastain and Dawn M. Chastain (Leonard J.) Baumgarten; her grandson, Robert A. Baumgarten; her sister, B. Jane Puckett. Her other surviving children are Robert and Allison Rochuba; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one on the way.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am followed by a 10:00 am funeral service all at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Porter Avenue in Ocean Springs. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
