Sylvia Ann Seymour

Nov 3, 1942 — Aug 8, 2026

Sylvia “Ann” Seymour, 83, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026. She was born on November 3, 1942, the second child of Sidney and Stephanie Fountain, who along with her sister, Delores Fountain Puzz, preceded her in death. She lived in d’Iberville throughout her life. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Biloxi and began working as a dental receptionist. Ann went on to work for The Flower Basket Florist in Biloxi. Her next place of employment was Frank P. Corso. It was there that she met James “Durel” Seymour. The two were married in 1962. Durel preceded Ann in death in June, 2026.

During their 63 years of marriage, the couple welcomed three children: Dana (Lance) Trochessett, Patti (Guss) Fleming, and Jamie (Michael) Seymour. Ann temporarily left the workforce to care for her family. As the children grew older, she began working at Taranto’s Curb Market and later, in the same location, for Fayard Brothers and Rusty Quave.

Ann and Durel’s family would eventually expand to include 8 grandchildren: Jillian (Alvin) Vallo, Lauren (Stephen) English, Haley (Graham) Peacock, Lance (Ady) Trochessett Jr., Brennan (Clint) Harrell, Brooke (Adam) Terranova, Reese Seymour and Sidney Seymour, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Ann was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in d’Iberville. Beyond regular Mass attendance, she and Durel were very active parishioners. She volunteered for years as a lector. She made goodies for the Bazaar and the Bereavement Committee.

Ann loved and nurtured her family and looked forward to any kind of family event. She enjoyed making tasty desserts and abundant spreads of homemade specialties for every occasion. Decorating for holidays and manicuring her plants brought her great joy.

Upon retirement, she and Durel enjoyed frequent travels throughout the country, driving from coast to coast and from Canada to Key West. They made many trips to Walt Disney World, often with other family members.

No matter the location, Ann enjoyed shopping. From collecting gift shop souvenirs of their various travels, to braving the crowds for Christmas treasures, she was ready for the thrill of the hunt.

She was a devoted mother and “Maw Maw”, attending every event from birthdays to weddings and recitals to graduations.

In her later years, Ann’s greatest pleasures came from spending time with Durel. Whether they were eating lunch at a local restaurant, sitting on the patio watching the birds, or enjoying a favorite TV show, she was content as long as they were together.

Memories will be cherished in our hearts to fill the void left in our lives by the loss of our beloved Sylvia “Ann” Seymour.
