Tasha La'Shawyne Purnell

On September 4th, 2021 Tasha Purnell, 47 finished her race. She was born on March 20, 1974 in Stockton, CA to Mary Daniels Johnson and Dale Evans. Under the faithful pastor ship of Pastor Charles McKinney, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and personal Savior and was a faithful member at Jesus Christ Baptist Church in Ocean Springs, MS. Tasha lived her life to the fullest giving the gospel to anyone who would listen. She started every day on her knees thanking God for all that He has done in her life, and she diligently searched the word of God for direction in her life in the lives of her children and in the lives of her friends. She is known for being a faithful servant of Christ Jesus, her bubbly spirit, her loving kindness, and her selflessness, she was a blessing to anyone who met her, and she will truly be missed. His Lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Matthew 25:21 She leaves behind to cherish her many memories her loving husband of 27 years, Duane Purnell; her father, Dale Evans; her mother, Mary Louise Daniels-Johnson; mother and father-in-law, Charles & Regina Purnell; her aunt, Lynett Lawson; three children, Phelecia Purnell, Asa Purnell and Brianna Purnell; three siblings, Eric Evans, Avron Evans and her twin sister, Tajii Evans-Barnes; brothers and sisters-in law; a host of nieces and nephews whom she adored, Cheyenne Parkmond, Aaron Parkmond, Lauren Mckinna Parkmond, Christina Hobbs, Christian Hobbs, Victoria Brunson, Isaiah Barnes; as well as uncles, aunts and cousins; and her church family. Tasha’s life, memory, and legacy will forever be remembered in the hearts and lives of all the people she impacted while here on earth. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the kindness, love, and thoughtfulness shown during our time of grief and bereavement. We have been truly blessed by all of your support and prayers. A very special thanks to Pastor Charles McKinney and his wife, Anna McKinney, Jesus Christ Baptist Church members. As well as our violinist, Bruce Kirkwood, for the music selection "I Can Only Imagine".
