Terry Bishop Sevin, 71, of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away on September 1, 2025, at East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana. She was a beloved mother, wife and sister, and is deeply missed every day.
Terry was preceded in death by her father, W.C. "Bill” Bishop and her mother Wanda Hoppes Bishop. Her brother Matt Bishop passed away November 6, 2025, at St. Dominic Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
Terry is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bobby Sevin; daughters Rachel Sevin and Emily Sevin; siblings: Kevin Bishop, Mike Bishop (Sharon), Mark Bishop, Beth Gregory (Matt); sister-in-law Jill Bishop; Uncle John Hoppes and Aunt Margie Bishop. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom she deeply adored.
Terry was born in Gulfport, Mississippi, graduated from Sebastopol High School in 1972 and earned a degree in nursing from Mississippi University for Women in 1977. She worked as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, Washington, and later worked as an RN in orthopedics at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tennessee.
Terry attacked life with gusto. She had many passions, the biggest of which was her family. Terry planned huge parties for milestone birthdays, decorated for her nieces and nephews’ weddings, and traveled to countless swim meets, choir concerts, beauty pageants, dance competitions, football games, and soccer tournaments.
Terry was incredibly creative. There was never a project she was afraid to tackle, and she never saw a blank wall without imagining what would look good on it. She was gifted in interior design and decorated for every holiday, but Halloween and Christmas were her favorites. Terry would also crochet constantly, whether it was in a waiting room, or in the passenger seat on a road trip. Each baby born into the family was gifted a beautiful baby blanket, made with love, and had the personalized labels to prove it.
Terry was a nurturer. She was skilled, knowledgeable, and a champion at growing plants, both inside and outside. Her home was filled with well over 100 beautiful and exotic varieties. The care of her plants was a major concern when leaving home for a trip.
Terry was a patriot. She channeled her passion for service and our country by volunteering as a medical escort for Honor Flights, accompanying World War II veterans from Nashville, Tennessee to Washington, D.C. to visit the newly completed World War II memorial.
Finally, and most importantly, Terry had a passion for helping. She was an immaculate hostess and loved hosting family so they could relax and enjoy some vacation time. Terry loved being a nurse, and relished giving friends, and strangers, advice when asked about medical issues, as well as gardening or decorating. After retiring, she volunteered with the Singing River Hospital Auxiliary in Ocean Springs. Her volunteer work speaks volumes about her empathy and her compassion.
Terry will be remembered for her huge laugh, her fierce independence and her loving drive to help others.
