Thomas Byrd

Thomas J. Byrd, 74, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 in Ocean Springs. Mr. Byrd was born in Biloxi and remained a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. He was a Retired U.S. Army Veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star during his service in the Vietnam Conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Byrd; parents, Vera and Eugene Byrd; brothers, Oswald Byrd and Frank Byrd; and sister, Charlotte Noble. Survivors include daughter, Mary (Scott) Ferguson; son, Thomas Byrd; sisters, Hilda (Mac) McKee and Susan (Mike) Heidelberg; sister-in-law, Madeline Byrd; brother, Larry (Janice) Byrd; grandchildren, Crystal (Scott) Gordon and Shawn Ferguson; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Caleigh Gordon. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 from 10:30 am until 11:30 am with an 11:30 am service all at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
