Walter Schumacher

T/Sgt. Walter C. Schumacher (USAF Ret), 64, of Ocean Springs, MS died Sunday, January 30, 2005, at his home in Ocean Springs. Sgt. Schumacher was born in Jackson, MS and was a longtime coast resident. He retired from the air force after over 20 years of service and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a ROTC Instructor for a number of years. Sgt. Schumacher was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ethel Schumacher. Survivors include his sons, Bert Schumacher, Matthew Schumacher, Joseph Schumacher and his wife, Kelly, all of Sacremento, CA; daughter, Jolene McKinney of Ocean Springs; sisters, Shereen DeGeorge and her husband, Larry, of Ocean Springs; Sandy Haydock and her husband, Joe, of Vancleave; Uncle, Donald Schumacher of Sacremento, CA; grandchildren, Nicholas, Alisha, Matthew, Jr. and Courtney; great grandchild, Jacob and Sgt. Schumacher's caregiver, John Rye, of Ocean Springs. Graveside services will be held 9 a.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2005, at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made to Memorial Hospice, 4500 13th Street, Gulfport, MS 39501. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi is in charge of services.
