Wanda Gale Cleveland

Wanda Gale Cleveland, age 47, passed away on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025 at Thomas Medical Center in Fairhope, AL due to some health complications following heart surgery. 

She was born on Thursday, February 3, 1977 at Keesler Medical Center in Biloxi, MS., to Mr. Wayne and Mrs. Josie Wooten. 

She is preceded in death by both her paternal and maternal grandparents; her loving father, Wayne Wooten; and her older sister, Tess David. 

She is survived by her best friend and soulmate of 15 years, Phillip Cleveland; her mother, Josie Wooten; her older sister, Michelle Wooten of Ocean Springs, MS; and her loving in-laws, Sandy and John Gordon, Danny Cleveland and a special brother-in-law, Jared Cleveland, all of Columbia, TN. 

Wanda and Philip were joined in holy matrimony on Saturday, August 1, 2009 with close friends and family witnessing true love at its finest. Her love for her husband was undeniable only to be matched as a Pug mom to Otis and Madelynn. Wanda was the example of a true friend that loved everyone at all times and there was never a question about the love and support she exemplified for her friends and family. We all struggle to find our place in life and in this world and Wanda was no different. After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2015 with a BSN in Early Childhood Development, Wanda found her true life's calling to be a childcare provider and preschool teacher. She was not just an educator, but also a guiding light used to inspire countless children with her passion for teaching and unwavering support. 

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests all donations to be made in her name to The Turner Syndrome Society of the United States. 

The family would like to thank all of the physicians and staff of the Thomas Medical Center for their brief but amazing roles everyone played in her care. Phillip would also like to thank her friends, family, and co-workers for the many texts, calls, and prayers. 

A funeral service will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs. Friends may visit two hours prior.

Wanda's burial will take place at later time at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee.
