Chief Master Sergeant Warren Lee Dickerson, age 73, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016, in Biloxi surrounded by his loving family after a heroic battle with cancer. He was born in Christiansburg, VA August 11, 1942 and lived in Shawsville,
VA until he entered the Air Force in October 1960. He served three instructor tours at Keesler AFB teaching the Morse Systems course. He served overseas with the Electronic Security Command (ESC) in Germany, Italy and three tours in Crete, Greece. He served at ESC Headquarters in San Antonio, Texas in 1984-1985 as Chief Enlisted Manager of Worldwide Training. He retired in 1990 as Manager of Patient Affairs at USAF Hospital Keesler AFB after over 30 years of service. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service at the Processing Facility in Gulfport for 19 years and retired in 2009 after more than 49 years of combined Federal Service.
He enjoyed yard work, walking, searching for Indian Artifacts, using his metal detector, watching the New Orleans Saints, spending time with his loving family and spending time with his numerous cats, especially his beloved cat, Sylvester, who never left his side.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Shanks Hall; father Forrest Dickerson; step-father, Ollie Hall; step-mother, Tena Dickerson; sister, Rebecca Welcher; brother, Timothy Dickerson, all of Shawsville, VA and his son-in-law, Michael McGuire.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sondra Dickerson, of Biloxi; two daughters, Deborah McGuire of Biloxi, and Dorothy (Joe) Cruthirds, of Saucier; four grandchildren, Keith McGuire of Biloxi, Bethany Cruthirds, Brandilyn Cruthirds and Brianna Cruthirds of Saucier; sisters, Martha (Tommy) Pearman, Deborah Mack, Peggy Willis, and Lisa (Harold) Sword, all of Shawsville, VA.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 2511 Pass Road, in Biloxi. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2016 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
