William John Buchanan III aka “Bill”, age 57, of Ocean Springs, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at home with his family members.
Bill was born on November 15, 1967, in Scranton, Pennsylvania to William Buchanan Jr. and Joan Ann Buchanan. He attended high school in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania and graduated from Abington Heights High School in 1985.
He served in the United States Navy from 1986 to 1990. While serving the U.S. Navy, he was awarded the: Sea Service Deployment Ribbon; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; and USCG Special Operations Ribbon.
Following his time in the Navy, he achieved the status of Master Captain as a Merchant Mariner. Mr. Buchanan became a community leader as a Board Member of the Ocean Springs Yacht Club and Founder of the non-profit Youth Sports Foundation.
Mr. Bill enjoyed boating, technology, and discussing quantum physics. He will always be remembered as a knowledge seeker and family man.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Joan Buchanan; his brother, William Buchanan IV; and his granddaughter, Saylor Grace Wallace.
Survivors include his loving wife, Tania Buchanan; 4 children, June Michelle Wallace, William John Buchanan V, Gavin James Buchanan, Liam Sean Buchanan; 3 Grandchildren, Kaitlyn Jade Shivers, Morgan Tania Shivers, Scout Michelle Wallace; 3 Sisters, Ruth Ann Howell, Patricia Ferguson, Janice Robinson; and 2 Dogs, Brady and Kobe
A funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit two hours prior. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
