William “Billy” Robert DeVries, age 74 of Biloxi, MS passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 13, 2023.
Bill was born in Detroit, MI and was a long-time resident of Biloxi. He was a life-long musician, playing with several bands in numerous Biloxi bars and nightclubs for almost six decades. He worked at Mississippi Music and Pinkston’s Music selling instruments for many years. Later in life he worked as a security guard at Boomtown, Treasure Bay, and Island View Casinos, while always continuing to entertain with his crazy sense of humor and songs.
He was dedicated to fitness, and spent his spare time lifting weights, working out, and biking. He enjoyed collecting guitars, and taking care of his beloved pets.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Burton DeVries and Shirley Joan DeVries; and his sister, Glenda Gail Barnes.
Bill is survived by his loving sister, Janet Darlene DeVries; and his beloved nieces, Kimberly Lesso (Mike), Josette Lewis (Brandon) and Alyssa Ransonet (Tyson); great-nieces and nephews, Layla Ransonet, Tyson Ransonet, Jr., Maddox Lewis and Camille Lewis; and his faithful pets, Rosie and Pumpkin.
Funeral Services will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Avenue in Biloxi on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 2:00 pm. Friends may visit from 12:00 pm until service time. Interment will follow at D’Iberville Memorial Park.
