William Brian Buchanan

William Brian Buchanan, 42, beloved son of Bill and Noni Buchanan, was received into the arms of his Lord on the morning of April 27, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospice in Gulfport, MS. Born in Louisville, KY on September 16, 1974, he moved to Madison, MS in 1994 and attended Madison Central High School where he received a Certificate of Attendance and a Citizenship Award from the Business and Commerce Center. In adulthood, he lived in several group home settings, including Willowood, the Baddour Center where he was elected “Mayor”, and most re-cently, GB Cooley in Monroe, LA. He was a member of Diamondhead Community Church, PCU-SA. Brian loved fishing and boating of any kind, the latest electronic gadgets, and weather. He had a generous spirit, which sometimes caused him trouble, but he enjoyed volunteering and helping others in any way he could. Brian had an enthusiasm for life and a positive attitude which enabled him to meet the considerable challenges he faced. He taught many family and friends about courage, trust, living and loving. Survivors include his parents, brother Chris Buchanan (Amanda), niece, Darby and nephew, Hayes Buchanan all of Charlotte, NC; aunt, Marilyn Harkrider (Jim) of Kingwood, TX; aunt, Dr. Carol Jones and Arry Lefeve of Gulfport, MS; great aunt, Libby Harvin of Louisville, KY; and cousins, Jamison Whittaker (Loiane) of Charlotte, NC, Brittany Franey (Craig) of Tega Cay, SC, Martha Ann Jones of Houston, TX, Christie Owens (Joe) of Ridgewood,NJ and eight second cousins. A service of celebration of his life will be held at Diamondhead Community Church on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 1:30 PM with visitation to follow the service.
