William (Bill) Gorenflo Curtis of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away on June 21, 2025, at the age of 82.
Bill was raised in Biloxi, MS, and shared many stories of him and his friends’ adventures growing up. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1961, attended Perkinson Jr College and received his BS degree from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) in 1965. He served in the US Army and is a Vietnam War Veteran, receiving multiple medals including, 2 Air Medals and a Bronze Star before leaving the military to continue his education, receiving a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from USM in 1974.
He worked as a research chemist, superintendent of the Polycarbonate Dryside manufacturing plant in Baytown, TX, and a manager in the Polycarbonate Division at Corporate Headquarter of Bayer Corporation in Pittsburgh, PA, retiring after 23 years in 2004.
After retiring he and his wife, Anna, spent their retirement years traveling the world before settling in Ocean Springs in 2012.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis E Curtis Jr and Josephine Gorenflo Curtis; his brother, John Stephen Curtis.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anna; 3 children, daughter-in-law, 5 grandchildren, 2 sisters, brother, mother-in-law, sisters and brothers-in-laws, multiple nieces, nephews, great and great- great nieces and nephews.
