William George Meyer, Sr.

William George Meyer, Sr., age 74, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in Gulfport. He was born in Minneapolis, MN and was a resident of Gulfport. He was a member of Ramsay Memorial United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, including two tours in Vietnam and was a member of the following organizations: Marine Corps Association, Marine Corps Drill Instructors’ Association, Minnesota Street Rod Association and Road Knights, Bloomington, Minnesota. He received the Bronze Star, Navy Commendation Medal and Purple Heart He was preceded in death by his by son, William Meyer, Jr., parents George and Gertrude Meyer, sisters Susan Augustine, Joyce Nickle, and Cathy Pederson. He is survived by: wife, Roberta Meyer, daughter Jana McCoonse (Kevin), grandson, Jacob Meyer, sister Linda Svoboda (Ted), brothers John Meyer (Barbara), Gregory Meyer, Jeffery Meyer and Brian Meyer (Nita). The funeral service will be held Monday, March 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Ramsay Memorial United Methodist Church on Dedeaux Road, Gulfport where friends may visit beginning at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial donations to the American Heart Association, 2159 East Pass Road, Gulfport, MS 39507 or to Ramsay Memorial United Methodist Church, 12472 Dedeaux Road, Gulfport, MS 39503. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, O’Neal Road is in charge of arrangements.
