William “Bill” Roy Johnson, 85, passed away at home on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Bill’s loving wife, Janet, was by his side the entire time.

Bill was born in San Francisco, CA on June 13, 1940 to Roy and Emily Johnson. He was the eldest of their three children. Bill grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area until he and his wife, Janet, moved their family to Petal, Mississippi in 1999. He worked as a jet mechanic with United Airlines at San Francisco International Airport until he retired in 1998. Bill received his training as a mechanic, when he served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Bill was married to Janet Lydia Johnson (Rugen) for 52 years. Together they raised two children, Matthew Johnson (Scarlett) and Travis Johnson.

Bill was an avid sports fan. He was an amateur sportswriter for several publications. His favorite team was the LSU Tigers. On every weekend, you could find Bill taking his family to one of the many sporting events around the San Francisco Bay Area. He was also a big advocate for animals.

He is preceded in his death by his parents, Roy and Emily Johnson; and his son, Travis Tyler Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Lydia Johnson; his son, Matthew Johnson (Scarlett); his adoring grandchildren, Tyler and Aria Johnson; his sisters Eleanor Johnson and Annette Moran; numerous nieces and nephews; and his pets, Sally, Charlie, Puma, Mister, and Cookie.

Services will be announced at a later date.
