William H. North III of Long Beach, MS, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother. He began is life in Nacogdoches, Texas on November 20, 1942, to his parents, William H. North, Jr., and Nadine North, and later grew up in Sante Fe, New Mexico.
He passed away on October 27, 2024 to be reunited with God in Heaven. William, known as "Bill" to his friends and family, leaves behind a legacy of love, honor, and dedication to his family, country, and community.
He is survived by his children, William H. North IV (Loretta), Nadina North, and Jill Smith (Brian); his cherished grandchildren, Lauren Sanders (Brett), William H. North V and Blake North; his great-grandchildren, Derek Sanders and Emma Sanders, and his brother John North. He was surrounded by love and held by his family in his last days.
Bill had a distinguishing career in the United States Navy from July 1964 and retired as a Navy LDO Lt. Commander in March 1992. He continued to serve his fellow veterans through his active involvement with the local VFW Eddy Blake Post 3937. Known for his strong work ethic, Bill built a successful home inspection business that served the Gulf Coast community for many years.
As an avid outdoorsman, Bill found joy in camping and fishing, spending countless hours appreciating natures beauty. He also adored his dogs, Axel and Rhyllis, who brought him companionship and joy. Bill's legacy of strength, kindness, and devotion to his loved ones will be remembered fondly.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 1726 15th Street, Gulfport, MS 39501. Friends may visit one-hour prior to service. A celebration of life will follow at the Eddy Blake Post VFW, 213 Klondyke Road, Long Beach, MS 39560. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the North family.
