Willis Eugene “Gene” Gautreaux passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 7, 2025, surrounded by love and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and Willis Gautreaux, whose values helped shape the hardworking and compassionate man Gene became.
He is survived by his brother, James Gautreaux; and by his three daughters: Teresa Still (Jeff Still), Jeanine Caston (Donald Caston Jr.), and Jennifer Gautreaux (Michael Morrison II). Gene was a proud grandfather to Nolan Gautreaux, Hunter Still, Kirstyn Livingston, Kira Caston, Jonathan Dycus, Julian Dycus, Jeremiah Gautreaux, Hayli Patrick, Nathan Patrick and Lily Bradley. He also held a special place in his heart for Steve Mariakis, and Steve’s sons, Caleb and Hayden Mariakis, Christina Bradley and Jeff's three daughters Kasarah, Dejean, & Trinity Still, as well as a close-knit circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Each of them added meaning and warmth to Gene’s life, and he cherished the time and connection he shared with them.
Gene began his journey working briefly as a boat captain before building a lasting career in construction. He took pride in every home he built—his hands shaped spaces that became the foundation of countless memories. Outdoors was where Gene’s spirit soared, whether hunting, camping, or casting a line in quiet waters. He also embraced his creative side through painting and woodworking, transforming blank canvases and humble pieces of wood into art that bore his signature touch.
Gene’s memory will live on in the legacy he left behind—the homes he built, the love he gave, the stories he shared, and the quiet strength that continues to inspire. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A private celebration of life will be held by his family in the days ahead.
Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Willis Eugene “Gene” Gautreaux.
