Wilma Jean Smith, 88, of Carencro, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, surrouneded by the love of her family.

Wilma was a devoted mother who raised four children as a single parent, dedicating her life to their care and well-being. For many years, she worked in private duty care, compassionately assisting elderly individuals in their homes. She was the rock of the family, a source of strength, love, and wisdom whose presence touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished. She is now reunited with her beloved sons.

Wilma was born on December 25, 1937, in Church Point, Louisiana, to Ovina Matte Dies and Bertrand Dies.

She was preceded in death by her three sons, Glenn Smith, Patrick Smith and Gregory Smith; her parents, Ovina Matte Dies and Bertrand Dies and her brother, J.B. Dies.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Angela Kay Jackson and her husband, Jimmie Jackson, of Biloxi, Mississippi. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren who will continue to honor her memory.

Wilma is also survived by her sister, Brenda Oliver and her husband, Fred Oliver, of Eunice, Louisiana; and her brothers, Rick Dies of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Herman Dies of Eunice, Louisiana.

Wilma’s legacy of love, resilience, and devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

On Saturday, June 13, 2026, there will be a 2 PM Celebration of Life service at LifePoint Church, 3545 NW Evangeline Thruway, Carencro, LA 70520.
