Yoshie Suzuki Harris, 90, of Hutto, Texas, (formerly of Ocean Springs, MS) passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026 of prolonged health issues.
Yoshie was born May 25, 1935 in Tokyo, Japan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Suzuki. She carried her heritage with pride, sharing its traditions through her cooking, her stories, and her way of living. She approached life with humility, resilience, and a deep sense of responsibility to her family. Her love was quiet but powerful, expressed through countless acts of care. She taught us resilience, respect, and the importance of caring for one another. Her life reflected the spirit of gaman—endurance with patience and dignity.
Yoshie married Joseph Samuel Harris, Jr on August 18, 1952 in Yokohama, Japan. Remaining to cherish Yoshie’s memory are her husband of 73 years; daughter, Patricia Brown (Tully) of Hutto, TX; sons, Steven Harris (Fran) of Worthington, OH, Richard Harris (Karen) of Ocean Springs, MS and Joseph Harris (Sandy) of Gulfport, MS. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren in Texas, Ohio and Mississippi; as well as seven great-grandchildren in Texas and Mississippi. She is the last surviving member of her birth family from Japan. Though she has left this world, her spirit remains woven into the fabric of our family.
Over the decades she lived in Mississippi, she had a love for gardening, weeding, cooking, watching sumo wrestling and the Atlanta Braves, as well as going to the casinos! Many of her Japanese recipes are held in high esteem by her family. In addition, her hand-knitted & crocheted afghans and doilies have also earned coveted status, leaving a visual memory of her love and affection.
Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Yoshie Suzuki Harris.
